The client approached us with an ambitious goal – to design and fabricate a copy of the Santiago de Compostela botafumeiro for their new collegiate chapel.
In the process of concept development, we decided to design something new, in the neogothic style, to better represent and complement the style of the newly built chapel.
We then proposed to craft a botafumeiro that would beat the record for both the Santiago de Compostela and the Cava de Tirreni censers, which stood as the tallest in the world thus far.
The ornamentation of the botafumeiro’s details are an authentic representation of the gothic style, expertly brought to life by Emilio Leon Salinas over the two years of ideation and fabrication.
